More On NH - RFA

If you check out teacher’s comments in response to the final game blog, teacher points out that in an earlier blog they thought the outcome would be as it ended. But, teacher agrees that the margin was surprising.

To address a few of the things teacher wanted addressed – yeah, it did get chippy but not out of control. There was one incident between New Hartford goaltender Wayne Rich and an RFA player who’s identity I did not catch. (The sound system at the Rec. Center is not the best.) Both players got co-incidental minors and nothing more happened…during the game. There was a post-game shoving match involving Marco Dominic and Rich, I’ll get into that later.

Aaron Gregory had a small melt down late in the game where he did give a New Hartford player an extra shot. Gregory did get a minor for than and then got a misconduct for not going to the box when directed. Less than ten minutes remained in the game, so Gregory went to the locker room.

Penalties and power plays had little impact on the game. The biggest factor in this game was the Spartans aggressive play, taking the skating game to the Black Knights and not backing down on the physical play. RFA could never get things going. Clay Whittemore broke the heart of the Romans when he scored 48 seconds after Gregory brought RFA to within a goal midway through the second period. You could feel the brakes being activated on the Black Knights attack as New Hartford celebrated that goal.

At the end of the game, during the hand shake, there was a bit of a scrum. The only two players clearly in confrontation were Dominic of RFA and Rich of NH. To his credit, with a big game coming Friday, Rich would not accept the invitation. I checked with the officials after the game and no penalties were handed out as a result of the post-game activity.
